Capacity Provider

Description

Capacity Provider in AWS is a service that provides customers with the ability to quickly scale their cloud infrastructure by sourcing computing, storage and networking capacity from external providers. With Capacity Providers, customers can leverage the agility of AWS to quickly acquire computing resources when needed and pay for them on a pay-as-you-go basis. This flexibility enables businesses to accelerate their digital transformation initiatives and reduce costs associated with overprovisioning or underutilizing compute resources. Additionally, Capacity Providers allow customers to take advantage of specialized compute capabilities such as GPUs or dedicated servers without making upfront commitments.

The link between Amazon Web Services' (AWS) ecs-capacity-provider and autoscaling-auto-scaling-group is an important one. An ecs-capacity provider provides capacity to the AWS EC2 Auto Scaling group by specifying the instance types, desired capacity, minimum and maximum limits on the number of instances that can be in use at any given time. The Autoscaling Group then uses this information to automatically scale the number of EC2 instances up or down when needed. This ensures that applications deployed on AWS are able to handle any amount of traffic with ease and reliability.
